Get Pumped for LA Fitness

Quickly becoming a national chain across the U.S., LA Fitness is making its mark as a gym to be recognized. Although some may be dissuaded by the high enrollment fee or the pricy training, LA Fitness provides a great experience for both gym newbies or powerhouse lifters combined. With a nice selection of equipment, a great variety of classes, and additional benefits to making working out work with your lifestyle, LA Fitness continues to be my favorite local gym.

One of the first elements that potential members will be excited about is the amount of equipment. At my previous gyms, I was often aggravated by the amount of time it took to get a machine or weight equipment. LA Fitness stands above other gyms in the sheer amount of equipment provided. The main level features a lap pool and hot tub, racquetball and basketball courts, free weights, and weight machines. There are also a few rooms that serve as group fitness rooms. The upper level is full of cardio machines, ranging from stairs to bikes to treadmills. There's a little of something for every fitness preference.

As a member for over a year and a pretty consistent exerciser, I can confidently say that I have never had to wait longer than five minutes for a machine. Another perk is that the treadmills are close to a series of ceiling mounted TVs, so I can often catch up on my favorite shows while I'm working out.

Besides the plentiful gym equipment, adding classes to your normal workout can help keep you meeting your fitness goals. Each LA Fitness offers classes geared towards your personal preference: Boot Camp, Yoga, Step Aerobics, and many more. I've tried the Step, Kickboxing and a few other classes, and all have been a great time. Check the LA Fitness website (www.lafitness.com) for information as to what classes would be appropriate for your fitness level.

LA Fitness stands out in the fact that it caters to those who are on the go. Many of the locations offer a care center for children, which can be paid for as part of a monthly membership. Though I don't have children of my own, I have peeked into the kids' room often and have seen everyone playing games and doing crafts. This sort of care is a great option for parents who want to work out but also want to ensure solid care for their kids as well.

LA Fitness does have a few limitations. Though very clean, I have noticed that some of the cleaning supplies do tend to dwindle at night. The gym also does not offer a towel service for members, so make sure to bring one along. Some may also consider the membership a bit pricy (roughly $35 a month), though other gyms in my area charge upwards of $50. Above all, I have been quite pleased overall with the services.

LA Fitness strives to provide great equipment and services for all members. Interested potential members can visit and pick up a complimentary work out session. Try it - you might get hooked!
