Get Rid of Ants the Non Toxic Formula Way

An Organic Formula to Get Rid of Ants

Shana Dines
A Canadian friend of ours told us of a remedy to get rid of pesky ants. I am not afraid of them but ants can be a real nuisance in your home and yard. Ants can march into your house and into your cupboards and pantries.

Little biting vicious red ants live outside my dining room window. The little beasts have bitten me several years in a row. I forget from summer to summer that they have tunneled themselves a little home in my flowerbed. They have crawled up my shorts and bit me before I realize that they are even there. The bites itch unmercifully.

I have also witnessed their little ant line dance from my garage into the house. I have gotten ant poison but have worried about my dog getting into it. I now have a solution to my ant problem thanks to Wes. Wes said that you could use a non toxic mixture to get rid of the little beasts.

How to get rid of those pesky ants. This formula is non toxic and will not harm the environment.

The beauty of this solution to get rid of these common pests is that it is totally non toxic. It is made from two ingredients we eat all the time. The reason it's deadly to the ants is because ants have formic acid in their systems and it reacts with the baking soda, much like vinegar and baking soda. The combination expands producing large amounts of gas and they explode. It works on almost all ants including fire ants.

Just hand mix 2 parts baking soda with one part powdered sugar so it is well mixed together. Put the mixture in a dish so the ants can crawl into it. When the ants eat the mixture they will pop. It may be a hard way to go but it is quick.

Wes got this recipe off of a home improvement radio show and it was the most requested tip. A very practical solution especially if you have small kids or pets.

I especially like the fact that it is not toxic to animals, people and the environment. I want to use as few pesticides in my house and yard as possible. It is important that we all do our best to protect our planet and all of it's inhabitants.

If you should be as unlucky as I was, and get bitten by little vicious red ants, this is another hint. You can soak in a bathtub of comfortably hot water with a half of a cup of baking soda added to it. It will help take the itch and burn out of the ant bites.

You may even delight in watching the little suckers pop after you have had a vicious encounter with them with this non toxic formula.

I don't think grease ants will eat sugar. They get into our cats' food. Perhaps I can grind the catfoodinto powder and mix baking soda into it?
