Get Rid of that Belly Fat!

While body fat in general can be annoying, there is something about belly fat that just drives us crazy. Maybe it's the fact that the roll around your middle is so obvious in semi-tight shirts, or maybe it's because it is just so darn hard to get rid of! Here are a few tips to help you reduce the middle!

You can't decide to just lose the spare tire, losing fat involves losing it in general, all over your body. There is no way to pinpoint your fat loss. However, by exercising the muscles under that fat, you can help your stomach look flatter and less flabby. When combined with losing general body fat, you will see results much faster.

The best way to get those abdominals in shape is to do crunches and sit-ups. This has long been the best way and it still is. Even if you can only do a couple of crunches at a time, it is a good start. Try doing three or four short sessions throughout the day, take a day off to let your abs rest, then do another several-session day. It is very important to take that day of rest. You can work other muscles during the break, but your abs need a chance to rest and heal before they are ready for more workouts.

In order to lose fat, you will need to pay attention to both your exercise routine and your diet. Walking or jogging are very simple exercises that get the heart rate up and speed up your metabolism, helping you to burn more fat in a shorter period of time. It is a good idea to do your cardio in the morning so your metabolism will be higher all day.

As for diet, that should be low in bad fats and high in protein and carbs. If you are aiming for a pretty rigorous exercise routine, your meals should be about equal in protein and carbs. Proteins help build lean muscle, which also boosts your metabolism. Carbs give you long-term energy to keep working out.

Watching your diet, doing cardio, and focusing on building and toning the abdominal muscles is the best way to get rid of your belly fat and work towards a nice flat stomach. It won't happen overnight and it does take some work, but by following the tips above, you'll be there in no time!
