Get Rid of Your Cold

Some Simple Remedies

Jim Kelly
Colds are one of the most common illnesses to people and can be caused by numerous things. Let's all face it, there will probably never be a cure for the common cold because it is impossible to isolate the single thing that sets off this illness in every single person. Runny noses, sneezing and coughs keep those with the common cold miserable and probably up all night, where there are just a few simple remedies that can help you get over it.

1. Wash your hands and often. This seems like the easiest and most obvious way of going about avoiding the cold but it is probably also the most neglected. After touching anything that other people may have touched you probably want to take a trip to the sink and clean your hands, it may seem excessive but it will be worth it when you are healthy for the winter.

2. Drink more water. Our body is made up of mostly water and drinking more can only help your body's defenses against the cold. The least amount you should drink during the day is around approximately 64 ounces, but do not be shy excess drinking of water is never a bad thing.

3. Take a nice brisk walk. Building up your defenses against the cold is not easy to do, but you can fight the common cold by taking a quick walk in the morning, you will be gaining exercise an ample amount of exercise and your body will get used to the cold weather to help fight off the cold in the future.

4. Rest. If you feel sick, take a rest, do not push yourself in order to get back to work it could only make the cold worse. The best way to beat the cold is to let it run its course.

5. Go see a doctor. Once again if you are sick do not pretend that you are not, just accept the fact and go off to your doctor and make sure you get the right treatment. Ignoring the doctor can turn your cold into something worse. You can never be too careful, right?
