We fell in love with this products when a neighbor's dog spread its fleas to our two cats and our dog. After many frustrating weeks of using all the popular name brand products with no luck. We tried Diatomaceous Earth also known as DE. Now we always keep some on hand, just in case. I've even let some of our friends and family try it and they always come back wanting to know where to buy it. I'm convinced that it's the greatest product on the market for these types of insect infestations.
My son's girlfriend had told us about DE. At first, we were skeptical. We thought it's probably another one of those all natural, environmentally safe products that doesn't even work. Then, out of desperation we bought some at an Agway Store. We spread it all around our house and yard. We even put it in our cat's litter boxes and in between our couch cushions. Our teenage daughter was mortified that the cat had been lying on her bed, so she spread the DE all over her room. She even put it between her box spring and mattress and sprinkled it all over the carpet using a flour sifter. Sure enough, within a few days our flea problems had diminished and within a week or so we had no fleas at all. Admittedly it is a little messy, maybe even unsightly having white powder everywhere. The up side is that it does clean up pretty easily with a vacuum and most importantly, it gets rid of the pests.
Diatomaceous Earth is a fine powder made up of ground fossilized diatoms (something like small sea urchins). It works by cutting up insects as they walk and crawl through it . It works on ants , cockroaches, fleas and any other walking and crawling bugs. It is completely safe for kids and pets. You can even eat it if you by the food grade quality. When spreading the DE it is recommended that you wear a mask so as not to inhale the tiny dust particles into your lungs.
You can sprinkle around your foundation, window sills, patios , gardens and even in your basement. Once you try it you'll love it and you'll be telling your friends about it!
