Get Shiny Hair Straight from Your Kitchen!

t's not a secret that we all want shinier, healthier looking hair. It's also a well known fact that harsh winter weather conditions, dry air from heaters, styling tools, and overexposure to the sun and chlorine in the summer make for dried out, dull looking locks. While we can always opt for brand name shine serums, there are a few all natural tricks you can use to help your hair return to its shining glory.

Some of us may have heard of these natural hair shine enhancers from our mothers and grandmothers, and those wise women certainly knew what they were talking about. For centuries women all around the world have been taking care of their hair with items easily found in their kitchens, and now we can follow in their footsteps towards a naturally gleaming mane.

One of the most effective, natural shine enhancers for hair is apple cider vinegar. When used as a rinse it restores the hairs' natural ph balance resulting in stronger, shinier hair. The preparation is simple, just add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to half a cup of warm water and use it right after you have shampooed and rinsed out your hair. Pour it on your hair and scalp, massage it in, rinse and condition as usual. You can use this treatment as often as you like and it will result in added shine and manageability.

A messier, yet incredibly effective shine boost for your hair is an egg and yogurt conditioner. To make this nutritious hair treatment add one egg to half a cup of plain yogurt, mix, and massage onto your hair beginning at the roots and working your way up to the scalp. Leave the conditioner in for three minutes, then rinse, shampoo and conditioner your hair as you normally would. The protein and natural fats in the egg and yogurt will nourish your hair leaving it less frizzy and full of shine.

Another fantastic, all natural concoction that will leave your hair glossy and healthy is a beer and chamomile tea rinse. To make this all you need is four bags of chamomile tea which you will let steep in hot water for ten minutes in order to extract the full potency of the tea. Once the tea has steeped, add one can of beer and mix. After washing your hair and rinsing it well, pour the chamomile and beer mixture over your hair and leave it in for 3-4 minutes to allow it to penetrate the hairshaft, then rinse. This is a particularly great rinse for lighter hair as chamomile will naturally bring out highlights in blonde and light brown hair.

Nurturing your hair back to a healthier, shinier state doesn't have to cost a lot of money or take a lot of time at the local salon. With ingredients you already have in your own kitchen and with five minutes in the shower you can have gorgeous, shiny hair year round no matter how much sun, wind, and heat you may be exposed to.
