Calling all pirates to a free festival! Are you looking for something unique to do this father's Day? Does your special father like art? We all know the jokes about all the uses men have for duct tape. (Got a rip in your sleeping bag? Use Duct Tape! Broken glasses? No problem, use Duct Tape! Your wife or girlfriend constantly moving the rearview mirror to check her make-up and now your mirror fell? You guessed it! Use Duct Tape!) Well, now is your chance to take your father on a trip to Veteran's Memorial Park in Avon, Ohio. Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival started out five years ago due to the fact that "Duck" brand name Duct Tape was born in Avon, Ohio.

On June 13th through June 15th Avon's Heritage Duct Tape Festival takes place. The festival will open at 4:00 p.m. on Friday evening and stay open until 11:00 p.m. Saturday schedule is 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sunday the festival opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m.

Each year a theme for the duct tape festival is chosen. This years theme is a pirate theme.

You will expect to see many fascinating Duct Tape sculptures. Oh the imagination runs wild anticipating what one will see! Who knows, maybe your family will make it a tradition and the following year you as a family can create your own sculpture out of Duct Tape!

You will also see fashions with the famous Duct Tape! Feeling the pirate spirit? Don your own pirate made costume out of Duct Tape to wear to the festival.

Keep an eye open for the "living statue" throughout the Veteran's Memorial Park.

Dad will enjoy an antique car show at the festival. Also, your father can enter the "Duct Tape Dad of the Year" contest. How proud would he be winning that?!

On Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. bring your children and father to the parade! You guessed it, there will be handmade Duct Tape floats! When I first pictured this in my mind I thought of all silver floats. I took a look at the website and the floats from past parades are quite colorful as, of course, Duct Tape does come in a variety of colors.

Fun carnival rides will be featured. You may purchase individual ride tickets or buy a wrist band for a mere $15.00 and go on all of the rides you so choose! You and your family will have a few hardy har har's.

Bands will be featured throughout the day and evening in selected areas of the Veteran's Memorial Park.

Feeling lucky, mate'? Try the fun treasure hunt with your little pirates. Who knows what kind of treasures you will capture.

Play a few games to keep you and your children entertained. The games will include Duct Tape! Bring a few ideas home with you to play at your child's next birthday party!

Different foods, including a steak fry, will be served during the festival to fill your belly and hardy soul.

Have fun browsing through the local vendors items that will be sold at the park festival.

For directions, the parade route, and more information to this fun-filled event please check out the website to the Avon Duct Tape Festival. Other activities for you and your family are listed in the surrounding area of Avon, Ohio as well on the website.

Get out and enjoy a day with your father and family in the fresh air and golden sunshine. Be sure to bring a camera for this unusual festival. Make this Father's Day a truly sticky memorable one!
