- Archives
Having an archives section is one of the best things to have. If you're keeping a blog or if you just have too much going on in the front page of your site, having your entries archived weekly or monthly is one of the best things that you can do. Your archives should always be easy to find; they should be on the sidebar or linked to on an Archives page that will be placed on your navigation bar for easy access.
- Contact Page
A contact page is very important for you to have. It should be made available to all of your readers; you should link to it from every page on your site as well. Make sure that you link to your email address or that you place a small form that your visitors can use to send you a message. If you have a phone number, an address, or a fax number at which they could reach you as well and you're comfortable putting it out there then add that on your contact page as well. It would be a good idea to add how long you will take to respond to the messages you receive also.
- Tags
A tag cloud or a tag's list is very easy to add now-a-days, especially for blogs. What tags are, one word descriptions for the content that you place on your site. For example, if you have articles on different subjects on your site then you might consider tagging them with those subject names. This will give your users the ability to chose one subject/tag that they would like to look at only and then view all of the articles related to that subject on the screen at once.
- Feed subscription
A feed subscription button is something that wasn't that necessary to people a couple of months ago, but now it is. Placing one on your site is very important especially now that there's a whole lot going on online and visitors dont' always want to go through the trouble of going to their favorite sites each day. By adding a feed subscription button to your site you allow your visitors to subscribe via feed reader to your site and therefore they get to read your site's new content each time they open up their feed reader.
- Easy navigation
An easy navigation is essential to a user friendly website. Make sure that your website visitors always have a way to get back to the Home page from any page on your site, as well as all the other pages that your site contains. Usually you can place links to all these pages on a sidebar or at the top under your header. Make sure that these links can always be clicked and that they lead to the correct pages. If your users find it easy to get around to your site without having to look for the links on all sorts of places they are most likely to return to find more things.
