GET TWO ROOMS

Kathryn Neff Perry
I've had my nose pressed against the keyboard for the past few months. Polishing my latest manuscript, getting it ready to send off to the publisher. So needless to say, I haven't been doing much around the house. I've opened a few windows and called that dusting.

My sweet adorable husband has taken over the laundry, at least for the past month. We've learned to live with pink underwear. He offered to pick up a few things from the grocery one day. Between the time he left, and the time he returned he called me seven times. But that's another story.

This afternoon, I finally finished. I leaned back in my chair, satisfied that I couldn't polish it any more. I felt a sense of panic but also relief as I hit the send key on my computer.

Several weeks ago my husband mentioned has been hungry for homemade apple pie. When I had the opportunity, I bought a half bushel of baking apples.

Realizing it would take some time to peel the apples and bake a pie, I thought it would be quicker to make chocolate pudding. His other favorite dessert. I wanted to surprise him while he was outside watering my flowers, just so I could finish my project today.

I hurried to the kitchen, dug through the cupboards looking for chocolate pudding. Ripped open the box, dumped it into a saucepan, added the milk and stirred. After a minute or so, it didn't seem quite right. I couldn't understand why it looked the way it did. I lowered the heat and dug through the trash for the box. Did I add too much milk, not enough? Well, mystery solved----it's instant!

I yelled to my husband through the open kitchen window. "Just walk across the street (to the nursing home) and get me a room."

He laughed and turned, walking away. He had a bungee cord hanging from his collar.

"Honey, what's on your collar?" He grabbed it and said, "I've been looking for that for ten minutes."
"Go ahead and get two rooms!" I shouted.

Isn't that the truth! It's kind of bitter sweet though. You want to send it, but you're afraid at the same time! Thanks for your love and support. You are a great friend. Love you Katt

This was a cute story Kathryn. I know what you mean about pushing the send key on a manuscript you have worked on. I hope your book does great! Tell me when it comes out!
    With Love,
    Cindy
