Get the Woman in Your Life a Nice, Inexpensive Valentine's Day Dinner

Arvy Smith
It is Valentine's Day morning, and your wife asks you "So where is dinner tonight?" Oh No! You were supposed to make those reservations weeks ago. You remember the day you were heading out to the golf course? You told her you were just about to call them in and totally forgot about them because you could not find your putter. OK, so maybe you don't play golf. The fact remains, that you forgot and now have little options. McDonald's and Denny's are probably the best you will do. Not to fear; that is why you are reading this. "It's a surprise." You tell her trying to hide your guilt.

Stop feeling guilty, you are about to give her the nicest Valentine's Day, not to mention one of the most romantic. So what is her favorite food or type of food? Does she like Italian or Mexican food? What is her favorite thing to drink? Is it wine or soda? What is her favorite desert? Is it cake or ice cream or both? Sit down and think very hard about these things and plan out your grocery list. The more she sees how much thought you out into this, the more romantic it will be. You are about to make her dinner at home. What? What was that? You can't cook? If you can read, then you can cook. Find some recipes online and follow the directions step by step or call someone you know that can cook and get advice. Once you have picked up her favorite food and drinks, be sure you are home early enough to cook dinner for her.

Some other things that you can do to make the night romantic is to pick up some candles, you can get these really cheap at the grocery store, usually for just a few dollars. Get some pens and construction paper out you are about to make a menu. Fold your paper in half, like one of those take out menus. Get creative and put something sweet on the outside like your name with an apostrophe and the word restaurant, like "Mike's Restaurant." On the inside of the paper write down the names of the dishes like you would see on a real menu. For cost put something cute down like "One kiss" or "One hug." Clean up the house so it looks nice, put on some romantic music on the CD player, put on your Sunday best, set out the candles and menu and wait for your significant other to come home. Oh yeah, don't forget to tell her to meet you at home before "dinner."

Spending upwards of $100 on dinner at a fancy restaurant is now a thing of the past. You can do all of the above for under $30. Believe me, I have done it before and I am not a great cook. Your significant other will appreciate this much more than any dinner you could ever buy her at a restaurant, trust me.
