Get New Year's Resolution Support for Free with RunKeeper Pro
Smartphone Users Find Tactical and Social Support Through Powerful Fitness App
About RunKeeper Pro
Produced by FitnessKeeper, developer of several different computer-based fitness solutions, RunKeeper Pro is the number two fitness application in the Apple iTunes App Store. The popularity of the application is found in the ease with which it allows users to log, track, and share their fitness efforts while injecting fun into the process.
Foursquare
RunKeeper Pro integrates with the popular Foursquare location-based check-in app, making it possible for users to earn badges, coupons, and other rewards for maintaining a regular fitness program. Other advertisers support the application and the FitnessKeeper corporate Web site, promoting a wide range of fitness products and services that can easily integrate with a developing fitness lifestyle.
Building goodwill
Knowing that many people make New Year's resolutions concerning their physical fitness, FitnessKeeper CEO Jason Jacobs is making a goodwill investment in the community by offering the RunKeeper Pro program to users for free during the first month of the year. Often new fitness routines lapse early in January because of lack of logistical and social support: RunKeeper Pro does both.
By connecting with others who are interested in fitness, RunKeeper Pro can provide important accountability to health and fitness buffs no matter their engagement level and expertise. This social encouragement can go a long way toward establishing healthy habits that will last for the entire year.
Good business sense
Rapport within the community is important to the success of virtually every business, but that is not the only reason FitnessKeeper is making RunKeeper Pro free for a limited time: it makes good business sense.
Unwilling to yield its high position on the Apple iTunes application charts, the anticipated boost in demand resulting from the lower price will likely keep RunKeeper Pro at the top of the heap during a period of traditionally slow sales. The exchange of some revenue for market position is one that is increasingly popular, especially as more developer learn the devastating impact that declining iTunes rank has on sales.
Android smartphone users will also be able to access RunKeeper Pro for free during January, so no one with a smartphone has any excuse for being fat and out of shape, at least during the month of January. After the free period expires, regular subscription rates will likely apply. The FitnessKeeper Company firmly believes that users will find its application so useful that many free users will become loyal paying customers.
