Getting Advice from Other Mothers

Getting advice from other mothers may be hard for new mothers to take. Many times they are more comfortable taking advice from their own mother or even reading it in a book or asking the doctor. But taking advice from other friends may be helpful in other ways. If they've just gone through the stage you are, it is fresh in their heads what they did to cope with the changes.

There are many sites online that are for new moms and also just mom chat rooms where you talk to other mothers and some of their advice may help you and other it may not. But what's the worst thing that can happen? What they tell you doesn't work? Hey at least it was an attempt. I try giving advice to many of my friends whom have children now since they are two years younger than my little girl. If they have questions I'm always here to give advice or answer a question they might have. If I don't know, I just let them know that just try to do their best and all will pan out.

I had a few friends who have children a few months, or just a year older than my little girl, and I take their advise and try it myself just to see if it works for me. Other times I just keep it stored in the back of my head for another time that I need a new way to communicate with my child. Especially getting feedback from mothers about discipline for their children. Many parents have different ways of coping with this. One is time out. Sticking them in the corner or in a specific spot and leaving them there one minute per age of the child. The other people send them to their room. I see that as a play time because of toys being in their rooms so I try just doing the time out. Also, many people give their children consequences if their children are bad like taking one of their favorite toys or taking a snack away from then during that day if they are having temper tantrums. It may be something you try and you like or that you don't. So why not and just take the attempt. Hey it might work!
