Buses- There are buses that go almost everywhere in Austin. Capital Metro is the public bus transit in Austin. You can check the schedule online. You can enter all the information of where and when you want to go and they will give you all your options. You can also buy your tickets online to save time. Local service is only $.75 for an adult so this is a very economical way to travel.
Taxis- While taxis are more expensive then buses they can still be an economical option. There are many taxi services in Austin, Texas including Austin Cab Company. You can call most Taxi Cab company's if you need them for a large group or if you need a handicap accessible van. Taxi's are a good option if you are going somewhere that is out of the way, and wouldn't be on a bus route. Taxi's are also a good choice for people who want to as little walking as possible.
Walking/ or Bicycles- Many things in Austin, Texas are close enough to walk to them. Another great and environmentally friendly option is riding a bicycle. If you are going somewhere that is within walking distance walking is a great option. The weather in Austin usually nice enough to walk. The great benefits of walking is that you are doing something good for your heath, helping the environment, and saving money.
Trolleys- Known as the "dillo" short for Armadillo the trolley is a great public transportation in Austin, Texas. The Trolley has routes that go all over downtown. Trips on the dillo only cost $.50 for adults, and during busy times they run every five minutes. You can find out more about the routes and their times, at the visitors center located at 209 East 6th street. The trolley is a very inexpensive and fun option for you if you are traveling around downtown. Riding a trolley can be a fun experience even if you aren't trying to get anywhere in particular. You can also ride the orange dillo which is a sightseeing tour, perfect for tourists.
Airport Transportation- Getting to and from the airport can be a hassle in some places, not in Austin, Texas. You can use a taxi, or call a car service to take you to your hotel from the airport but the most economical option is the airport bus that takes you to all the local hotels. This bus is only $.75 and runs from 5am-11Pm most days. You can call your hotel to check and see the exact hours and if the bus goes to your hotel.
