Recently, a medical doctor visited my college to let us know of the abundant health benefits associated with daily consumption of herbal foods. Now, his definition of herbal foods included all foods that come from the plants, and when consumed, not only provide the desired nutrients but also either cures one from specific ailments or prevent one from being diseased, or both.
Diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart related complications and anemia were said to be greatly reduced by daily consumption of variety of vegetables and fruits. The doctor emphasized on the importance of taking at least two fruits per day, and especially considering the importance avocado has on health. I would therefore list some of the important vegetables and fruits, and specifically enumerate the benefits one could have on consumption of avocado.
Some of the vegetables that have a lot of health benefits include spinach, onions especially garlic, kales, carrots, cabbages, legume leaves, cooked bananas and the fruits would compose of the avocado, citrus fruits, banana, apples, pineapples, and most importantly are the roots such as potato, cassava, and the nuts. The benefits associated with each individual fruit or vegetable cannot be discussed fully, but in consideration, those benefits that could be ripped from a few of them are worth mentioning.
The juices prepared from the vegetables contain a lot of medicinal properties for boosting immunity and supplying the required nutrients in raw form. Crushing the vegetable into smaller pieces and then filtering it's juice using a clean sterile filter into clean containers such as jars, then consumed daily would readily enhance the health of the individual. The vegetable juices especially those from cabbage and carrots have been shown to cleanse the colon and prevent constipation (not forgetting the regular drinking of clean water).
But most remarkably is the benefit that could be ripped from proper utilization of the avocado. When the avocado is consumed as a fruit, it supplies vitamin C, A and E. Vitamins A and E are well known antioxidants that enable the body fight the accumulation of free radicals due to metabolism of other foods that we consume. A part from these vital vitamins, fats that come from this fruit are very important for the daily metabolism of the body and also for maintaining the shapes and constituents of our body cells. When the avocado oil is applied on the skin, the skin smoothens and softens, moisturizing it and giving it a lot of freshness and beauty.
Another benefit that could be ripped from the avocado is its ability to de-worm. Now, worms occur almost naturally in our alimentary canals as a result of consuming raw foods, ill-prepared and sometimes we can do little to avoid them. It is advisable that these worms be removed from our system once every three months, or if taken too far, at least twice a year. There have been claims that de-worming drugs could pose complications to some people, and thus better ways of de-worming could be sort.
When avocado leaves are pilled and cut into very small pieces, and then the pieces boiled in water, and the water drunk every morning for a period of about ten days, it has been shown by those who have done this (me included), that good number of worms is expelled from our system.
Not only do we get this kind of benefits from avocado, but also garlic has magical healing when juice prepared by boiling a gram of it in a class of water is taken daily (probably each morning), which will not only enhance the peristalsis of the Gastro Intestinal Tract but also boost our immune system. Garlic has been associated with other medicinal properties, though its consumption should not be encouraged to pregnant mothers due to its property of thinning the blood.
