Getting a Bikini Wax

Heather Wood
For us women, we consider it part of proper personal hygiene to take care of our area "down there". While it isn't really something that we casually talk about, it is still important to take care of grooming your pubic hair.

3 WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF THE BIKINI AREA:

Shaving - among the drawbacks of shaving are itching when the hair starts growing back and skin irritation.

Trimming - a very simple procedure to trim the hair "down there" to a shorter length. With the use of scissors, hair can be trimmed to keep the private area neat and clean.

Waxing - this is the most popular and widely used method of taking care of hair on the bikini area. Results of this procedure last longer than those of trimming and shaving. Waxing is a method that makes use of wax (cream wax, hard wax, etc.) to remove unwanted hair in the body, especially along the bikini area.BIKINI WAXING

To best prepare yourself for a bikini wax, relax and trust that the waxer really knows what she's doing. Most salons ask clients to wash or take a quick shower before the actual waxing procedure. Prepare or condition yourself to the inevitable discomfort that comes with bikini waxing. But then, it doesn't last for long and if done properly by a trained aesthetician, the discomfort is actually tolerable. If you're nervous that the treatment will be painful, pop a couple of Tylenol before you go to lessen the discomfort.

OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

q Waxing is recommended every 3 to 4 weeks.

q Panties can usually be left on or off during the waxing procedure.

q Waxing is not suggested or recommended when you're having your period as the hormonal changes during the menstrual period render the body more susceptible to pain. TYPES OF BIKINI WAX TREATMENTS

REGULAR BIKINI WAX - only hair extending outside the pantyline is removed so discomfort is minimal. Panties can be left on during the entire treatment.

BRAZILIAN WAX - this method varies from one salon to another. Named after the G-string-wearing Brazilian women, this involves the removal of hair from the labia and from around the rectum. In short, all hair is removed. You'd be required to assume some interesting positions for hair to be effectively removed in the areas involved.

MODIFIED BRAZILIAN - in some salons, this is simply called a Brazilian, but with the Modified Brazilian, a bit of hair is left on the front and as an extra feature, this bit of hair is shaped in hearts, triangles, vertical stripes, or rectangular strips among others.

PLAYBOY BIKINI WAX - obviously named after the Playboy models, hair, in this method, is removed from the labia and from the tush but a thin strip is left along the vaginal area.

FULL MONTY WAX - Hair is removed from the labia, vaginal area, and the rectum. Treatments vary from one salon to another and in some cases, different salons give different names to the same procedures. But, whatever option you do decide to take, just remember - you'd be safe with a trained, experienced, and professional waxer or aesthetician.
