Getting Your Dorm Room Ready with the Right Appliances

Lance Esondi
Dorm room living is not as comfortable as it is living at home with your parents. The freedom and new lifestyle are nice, but the lack of the comforts of home can be a bit overbearing at times. The average dorm room just doesn't come with the things that you need in terms of appliances and doesn't have the space either. There are many quality dorm room appliances that you might consider getting for your room.

One of the best things to cook with in a dorm is a toaster oven. Most use this for simple things at home, but these ovens can be used like a full oven. There are many smaller pans that can be used with these to make meals and you can also use aluminum foil to cook in as well. These are very cheap and provide you with all the baking you would ever need.

A hot plate is great for making various items. These tend to not be allowed in many dorms, but if you can, try getting one. These can be used to make a variety of meals.

You can also get a microwave. This is quick and convenient for heating up just about anything. Get a smaller microwave as you won't really need all the power to cook very large items as this will be rare. A smaller low wattage model will work just fine.

Many people invest in a mini fridge. These can keep things cold and even have very small freezer compartments. If you shop at the right times, you can get a good deal on these. Know the dimensions of your room first before purchasing to make sure it will fit.

There are a couple things to keep in mind in terms of your appliances. Some schools ban certain ones from being in the rooms as they see them as too much of a fire hazard. You might also want to hold off buying too many of these until you know what your roommate is bringing as well. There is no need to have multiple of the exact same appliance in the room.
