This awesome game is jam packed with beautiful and extremely detailed dirt tracks and realistic looking turbo charged cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATV's, Semi Trucks, and well I could go on and on Listing off the cool vehicles that are on this game but you will have to wait and see for yourself when it's finally finished and released to the masses.
Motorstorm was already released early in Japan but was missing the multiplayer mode plus all of the online play options but at present time, Evolution Studios has been very busy working overtime on these options for the PAL and US versions in time for its March 6th release date.
Before I dive into MotorStorm's very extensive and exciting multiplayer mode, it's worth making note that the game's servers haven't been fully set up yet, so at this point my impression is based solely on racing against a couple of other players rather than it's future potentially packed full tracks. At present time, racing around the tracks didn't have quite the same fun and intensity but this will all change once the players from Europe and the United States are all competing online. When this finally happens the party really starts.
You will be able to compete with up to 12 vehicles in any one contest with all of the available race's being listed on the main menu screen. You will have the choice to join a game or host your very own race on any of the eight beautifully detailed tracks, Raingod Mesa, Coyote Rage, The Grizzly, Rock Hopper, Tenderizer, Mudpool, Dust Devil and last but definitely not least Sidewinder Gulch. The different types of vehicles will also be up for grabs on the Main Menu screen and can actually be restricted to allow for an all bike race, big rig combat or any other combination of car class that you can think of.
In Motorstorm, Gamers can choose to race up to five very challenging laps and the host player will have the option of choosing at which time of day the races will takes place, either in the morning, the afternoon, and at night. Choose a day race and the bright sun makes it easy for the amateur racer to find his way to the end of the track. Pick the dusk option and the low sun means it can be difficult to navigate out corners and obstacles, while racing at night, without headlights to light the track ahead, is designed to challenge the pros.
One of the few differences between the multiplayer and single game modes is the addition of the opposing gamers name, which will appear over their vehicles. This will allow you to go after a specific player if you're feeling nasty, or give you a heads up too get out of their way if they have a habit of ramming you off the road. In that respect, the game play is exactly the same in the on and offline modes. The big trucks will always roll over the lighter ATV's, cars and bikes in a collision, but faster vehicles have the advantage of being able to quickly get out of the way. Coming out of a crash untouched is no easy thing to do though, even if you're behind the wheel of a larger vehicle because driving over the smashed up remains of a dirt bike can easily cause you to lose control and wreck out yourself which really adds to the realism of the game.
Fighting for first place against people from around the world is truly what this game is all about, especially when gamers of all different levels of skill are competing on an even playing field. The more skilled players will still have the edge because they're less likely to destroy their vehicles, which always costs valuable time but MotorStorm's multiplayer option promises to come out ahead because anyone can compete in any race and still be in with a chance of taking the checkered flag.
This will definitely be a must have game for your Playstation 3 so save up your hard earned cash, strap your seatbelt on nice and tight then get ready for March 6th cause it's time to get down and dirty with Motorstorm.
