Getting Gold Easymode Style in the Western Plaguelands

Looking for a way to easily make tons of gold in World of Warcraft? Do you covet epic gear and exclusively expensive mounts? Don't fight crowds of farmers in Northend; make gold fast in the Western Plaguelands by outsmarting the competition.

In the remote hills of the Western Plaguelands is a fortified village of Scarlet Crusaders called Hearthglen. Although the Scarlet Crusaders are no longer elite, they still drop generous amounts of silver, runecloth and magic items. Even better! Hearthglen has rich thorium veins, valuable herbs and is relatively deserted since Wrath of the Lich King was introduced. With patch 3.1, the value of the resources found in this area will be in high demand, earn a pure profit in gold by farming Hearthglen now.

To get the most out of working in the golden paradise that is Hearthglen, your character should be at least level 58 and have respectable dps (damage per second). Also, if your character has the mining and herbalism professions, they will make the most gold! Thorium and herbs always sell well and will sell even better after patch 3.1.

In patch 3.1, all of the new inscription recipes require the silvery pigment that can be only be milled from level 50-60 herbs. The patch will make the plaguelands an even more profitable place to farm gold in the near future. After the patch, there will be a high demand for the plaguebloom, arthas's tears, mountain silver sage and dreamfoil that spawns in Hearthglen that will continue as scribes need the pigments to make ink for the new glyphs.

To get started, merely ride the mountainside, in a complete circle, you should find at least two rich thorium veins per circuit. After you have mined the area pick the herbs. Once the herbs are picked pull and kill all of the humanoid mobs for runecloth and magic items. By now the mines and herbs have respawned, repeat!

If you are still leveling up, be wary of the solo level 62 elite, named High Protector Lorik who patrols Hearthglen because he can be dangerous. There is also a rare humanoid mob called the Scarlet Smith who spawns in the Blacksmith area, who drops magic items and recipes.

If you can kill efficiently enough, head south to the enchanter's tower on the roadside, kill Scarlet Enchanters for the Enchant Weapon Crusader formula; there are also additional thorium nodes spawn near the Tower. If you are fortunate enough to get the Crusader enchant formula, you can sell it for 150 gold on the auction house. The crusader enchant is one of the most profitable enchants because it is favored by both new characters trying to level and battleground twinks. The crusader enchant will not be effected by level restrictions that are being introduced in patch 3.1.

Here is the breakdown of how you will earn your 330 gold: 10 gold directly looted off the Scarlet Crusaders, 5 stacks of runecloth worth 20 gold, 30 pieces of thorium which can be sold for approximately 55 gold, gems including azerothian diamonds, blue sapphires and arcane gems, 30 gold. Herbs that sell for about 25 gold a stack now could easily be sold for 100 gold or more after the patch, when everyone is scrambling to meet the demand for the new glyphs.

There will always be a high demand for runecloth because it is used in trade skills, reputation quests and first aid. Thorium and gems still sell well even after the release of Wrath of the Lich King because someone is always trying to level blacksmithing, engineering or jewel crafting. Hearthglen, is less crowded than Northend and full of goodies that bring lots of gold pieces on the auction house.

There are other great places to earn gold in the Western Plaguelands, Gahrron's Withering is an option because there are hundreds of mobs that can be gathered easily and killed by area of effect spells. Gahrron's Withering also has about 10 herb and ore nodes near it. The mobs in this area drop generous amounts of runecloth, give Argent Dawn reputation and scourge stones. The Weeping Cave is another place that you might want to check out because there is almost always a rich thorium node here and slimes that may drop the disgusting oozling, which is a rare pet.
