Getting Grant Money : Precious Details

If you are a project manager, a person who does bids, or someone who deals with contracts and demands on a daily basis, you know the earnest nature of bids and calls. If you are a person who is involved in the doing of works and projects, then you understand the urgent nature of making sure that those who are involved in doing know exactly what it is that is to be accomplished. In the every day, work a day world, the accomplishment of tasks is based on spelled out objectives. People who are involved in the details of what is needed spell out those specifications.

Details are the essence of what any project must have; they involve the amount of resources that exist. These resources are much broader than simple categories of Who, What, When, Where, How or Why; they involve more. In this and pursuant articles about the art of ferreting out detail we will take the categories and delve into how to set them up on a database and how that can help you in your grant writing efforts.

If we think about the category of who we see many entries that are possible, and in a database, they are fundamental. Looking at the pictures accompanying this article, you will see in the first image that the Access database which comes standard in the Microsoft Office suite is a very simply database to use. By choosing it from the Start/Program menu, you will find a choice to make a new database or use the wizard to let it make a database. Choose to use the wizard and you will then choose the view in that image, which is "Contact Management." From there choose OK and it will open to a screen like the second image which allows you to "Create a Database using a Wizard" and then choose NEXT- it comes up with contact potentials, types etc. etc. Follow the wizard all the way through and you will arrive at the third image - Start the database.

After you click on Start the database, the screen will flash through some creation motions, and will arrive at image four the "Main Switchboard." From this point you can click on the various enter buttons and enter the data you collect. As you fill in the data the points, we are going to discuss in this article and the pursuant entries under the subject of "Detail means Survival", will begin to make sense much more so than only discussing them in the abstract. Although it is good to note at the outset that abstract in this sense doesn't refer to a painting without clear lines, rather, abstract in this instance means a succinct and very specific and fundamental point of thought. Whom you are dealing with is more than a name, but the name of a person is extremely important.

Keying in your data you will be recording a name, an address, and all other amounts of information that you can receive. It is important to begin at the outset thinking about obtaining such information. Is it easier to ask people for this information, and you will fill out a form? That is one way; you will need that form ahead of time. Is it easier to print out a form and then they fill it out, and then return it to you? Is it easier and more efficient to put such a form on the internet and have the information returned to your e-mail? Is it more efficient to have the form on the internet and have the information returned directly to your database? Which method you choose is fundamentally how you will need to function, which we will go into in the second dose ...
