Getting Indexed Quickly in Search Engines

Chester Coonen
In all reality, the faster you have your pages in SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), the faster you can monitize on them pages with free and natural search-engine traffic. Here are a few tips and tricks to getting your pages reckognized, trusted, and indexed in Search Engines quickly.

Social Media:
A personal experiment I've run proved that Google favors being linked in heavy social media sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon and many more. I had 10 Web pages exposed and linked to in my Web site for weeks, including existing in my RSS feed and Google sitemap file but still couldn't get them indexed. The next day I added the page to Digg and wouldn't you know it - Google indexed my page that day. The problem was that my site didn't have the trust ranking that Digg has. And as soon as Digg exposed my link, they trusted it. This was an experiment with only one social media site but as you've guessed, getting linked in as many as possible is the best solution.

RSS:
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are a way to tell other websites including search engines the status of your website. They generally give other sites a quick overview of anything new or if any pages you highlight have changed. RSS feeds are key for sites that aggregate RSS data such as the ones in Pingomatic. This also gives other sites the ability to only grab one file from your Web site without having to download every page and parse its content. Anything that makes life easier on search engines is favored.

Pingomatic:
Pingomatic is a Web site that automatically pings multiple RSS feed aggregating Web sites, which notifies them to re-grab your RSS feed to check for any new or freshly updated pieces of content. Use this free service often and frequently. A rule of thumb is to execute the pingomatic process anytime you add or update anything on your website, such as adding a new web page, but make sure you have an RSS feed setup prior to doing so.

Sitemap Files:
Sitemap files are XML based text files that contain every link you would like exposed, acting as another helper method for other sites such as search engines to find your web pages. This has been a hit or miss benefit in the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) world but personally I swear by them. These files can be added to your Google Webmaster Tools, which will even notify you of indexed pages plus a plethora of other web scraping details. Yahoo also has a similar flavor of Sitemap file so make sure to build and use both. Multiple free tools and services also exist to automatically generate your Sitemap file to make this generation process as easy, error-free, and painless as possible.

Google Webmaster Tools:
These free tools made by Google exist to help web site owners. You can add your sitemap, set crawl rate, used to be able to see PageRank, detect bad or un-parsable web pages, etc... This is a gigantic resource made available to every site owner and should be used to its fullest. Make sure to add your Google Sitemap file and RSS feeds in these tools to assist in the indexing process.

Getting every web page in your website indexed in every search engine will generally never happen because of the quantity of web pages that exist in the Internet. Use these tips and tricks to get yours indexed quickly and easily.
