Getting to Know Homoeopathy: Part 1

The name homoeopathy is derived from the word homoios meaning similar and pathos meaning suffering, but the giving of similar medicine predates homoeopathy it was used in ancient times. Hippocrates stated that illness could be treated or cured by similar (having a drink to cure a hang over), contraries (putting ice on a burn wound) or by substitution (using insulin to treat diabetes)

This concerns the bodies ability to fight off illness, some people can go through life not taking care of their bodies and never get ill, others has to take the greatest of care to remain healthy, this is so because of the constitution of the body some are strong and others are weak. Illness is never unconditional there has to be a certain degree of susceptibility, there fore susceptibility goes with reactivity and sensitivity, proving this is easy, just take allergies if a person is allergic to pollen they don't necessarily have to bee in close contact with pollen to get a reaction like sneezing or head aches.

Provings

This is the way that the curative value of homoeopathic medicine is tested. The researchers would take a specific homoeopathic medicine and test it on a healthy person thus being able to see the effects it has and in which cases of illness it would prove more effective. This was first done by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann using Peruvian bark used by the indigenous South Americans to cure malaria, taking small doses 2 - 3 times a day he found that the bark creates the symptoms of malaria.

This is a dilution of the homoeopathic remedy due this form that is often used in highly poisonous substances making these poisonous substances perfectly safe, even in pregnancies.
