The Perfect Wedding Spot

LeQuire
Cancun is a perfect place for a wedding if you're looking to do something different. The beaches are absolutely breath taking and the climate is a wonderful warm temperature year round. There is much to see while you are there, likely more than you can fit in to your schedule! There are several festivals offered, in fact, dancing and bullfighting are some of the ways of celebrating in Cancun. Celebrated on July 16 is Fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen, which is the festivities for the Virgin of El Carmen. If you enjoy cultural activities, you may wish to visit the Ballet Folklorico of Cancun that is held at the convention center or ask about other cultural events that are put on at different hotels. The nightlife in Cancun is like no other place. The nights often last until morning for many visitors! Keep in mind, if you are planning a wedding in Cancun, there are guidelines that you must follow in order to be married there.

Required Paperwork (similar to that of the U.S.)

The required paperwork for a Mexican marriage is similar to that required in U.S.A., with the difference being that the nearest Mexican consulate must validate all documents (the hotel or wedding coordinator can assist with this).

Couples must provide:
• Current passport as proof of ID and marital status.
• Certified copy of both birth certificates.
• Tourist card (received upon arrival in Mexico) or visa.
• Names, addresses, nationalities, occupations and ages of both parents.
• Health certificate and blood test (must be done in Mexico, your hotel will help you set up the tests.)
• Four witnesses (these can be provided by the hotel locally for an extra fee). Must provide their names, addresses, occupations, ages and photo ID.
• Usually, two to four days must be spent in Puerto Vallarta to complete the requirements, however, less time may be required if a wedding coordinator is involved.

For previously married couples:
In addition to information above, you also need verification that at least one year has elapsed from the date of one of the following:
• Divorce - Final dissolution of the marriage must be verified with a certified copy of the final divorce decree.
• Widowed - Must be verified with a certified copy of the spouse's death certificate.
