Learn How to Maximize Your Frequent Flyer Rewards

Mike Burnside
As part of a small business, maximizing those frequent flyer rewards are very important. The problem that many of us have is that we don't have the time or patience to circumvent the maze of rules and regulations to find the best frequent flyer rewards. However, we have gathered up some of the best tips to finding the best frequent flyer reward programs and maximizing the benefits of those programs.

Focus on One Airline for Your Frequent Flyer Rewards
Spreading yourself around to more than one airline is not taking the best advantage of any frequent flyer program. Use an airline offering travel reward programs with the least amount of mileage. Use that airline not only for your small business, but also when traveling with your family on vacation. Some airlines offer frequent flyer rewards as low as 17,500 miles if you have a credit card associated with their program.

Plan Ahead to Maximize Your Frequent Flyer Rewards
Though sometimes difficult to do especially with a small business, but if you can find flexibility in your traveling you will score the better deals. The best frequent flyer reward days of the week are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday when flying in the U.S. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if you are flying to Asia and Europe. Weekends will for the most part be the most restrictive for frequent flyer mileage.

You Don't Have to Fly to Receive Frequent Flyer Rewards
You can rack up the miles and never leave the tarmac. Many frequent flyer programs reward miles for such things as credit cards, hotels, and car rentals. The secret of having a frequent flyer program is to make sure everything you do is going to get you reward miles. Anywhere from 30 to 60 percent of frequent flyer miles come from these non-flying actions.

Never Delay Redeeming Frequent Flyer Rewards
The airlines are getting more restrictive and placing expiration dates on their frequent flyer reward miles. These airlines are also changing the rules and their programs so a frequent flyer can have trouble redeeming those rewards. Experts suggest that you redeem those rewards often so they don't expire. Keep enough frequent flyer miles on your account to use for an upgrade on your next paid flight. Redeem before they expire is the rule.
