Getting the Most Out of Your Beer

Keith Riffle
When done in moderation, drinking beer can be a very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, many people do not enjoy the full experience of a good beer, either because they drink it out of the can or bottle, because they only drink mass produced beers, or because they do not drink beer at the right temperature. When people do this, they are missing out. Hopefully this article will change the way you drink beer, and delight you so much that you surprise a few friends with it that you have over for a football or baseball game.

Since beer is a precious commodity that you pay good money for, you might as well learn how to bring out the best in your beer so that you can enjoy it for its full value. Below is a very simple trick you can use to improve your beer's taste.

Here are three easy steps you can take to bring out the full flavor of your beer:

1. Rinse out a glass with water. Don't use plastic cups, by the way, use a glass!

2. "Shake" the glass upside down over the sink so that a few drops of water remain in it. The idea here is to get all of the excess water out of the glass without drying the glass.

3. Put the glass into the freezer, along with your favorite refrigerated beer, but make sure to remove the beer within 15 to 20 minutes so it does not freeze! Some freezers may chill the beer faster than others, so you may want to freeze the beer for only 10 minutes. After the beer has chilled, poor the now really cold beer into the glass and enjoy.

If you drink the "big 3" (Bud, Miller, or Coors), you are really missing out. While these beers are very popular, consider trying some imports or micro brews instead. Once you've tried them, you may never go back to the big three again! Below is a list of 10 beer you will undoubtedly enjoy, using the method described above:

1. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

2. Anchor Steam

3. Red Hook ESB

4. New Belgium Beer De Mars

5. Samuel Adams Boston Ale

6. Becks Dark

7. Guinness Draft Beer

8. Shiner Bock

9. Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve

10. Pete's Wicked Ale

Oh, and by the way, always, drink responsibly, don't drink and drive, and don't become a drunk idiot when you drink...people like that give good beer a bad name!
