Getting Motherhood Help from My Mom

Daisy May
I remember helping my aunt wash, dry, fold and use cloth diapers for her baby. I also remember swearing that I would never use them myself! My mom told me to never say never because we don't know the future. She was right.

It was my first baby and he was only a month old. I needed diapers but I didn't have any money so I called and asked my mom for help. I asked for disposable diapers. She gave me cloth diapers, rubber pants and pins. At first I felt that she gave me a bunch of useless items since I didn't ever plan on running out of disposable diapers again. I even wondered at the time if she gave them to me to punish me for becoming pregnant at sixteen.

It turns out that she did the best thing that she could have done for me. I ran out of diapers and money frequently so the cloth diapers got used till they were holey. She wasn't punishing me. She just knew how life was going to be for me and she was giving me the tools to overcome my plight. After that, I received a fresh set of cloth diapers after each birth.

I plan on giving cloth diapers to my children when they begin their own family. While cloth diapers have in the modern day become the 'green' way to live, I'll be giving them because it is the way to live with little money.
