You may have thought while you were dating your loved one "oh he/she is the ONE". And you may be right, but you still have to move on. Maybe there is a chance for the two of you to get back together. GREAT! Go for it. But that isn't usually the case. People change over time because after all we are constantly evolving. That second encounter with your loved one can sometimes put an end to your love obsession. You may find out that you really didn't know that person at all. Now your love obsession was only merely a long fling.
It's OK!
For many of us who are trying to get over that loved one, it wasn't the first time that you have been with a boyfriend/girlfriend of someone. So you know already how people can change or even misconstrue what they really are like. And obviously, it is much harder to get over someone the longer the relationship continues. Especially, if there are other things involved like a pet, other material things, or even a child.
Now don't get me wrong, if you have a child, you should do everything in your power to make that relationship work. DO NOT fault the child for your mistakes and don't let him/her feel like they are a mistake. If that relationship doesn't work, you must make arrangements to care and nurture for that child. Just recently, I heard on the radio that a woman won custody of a child and was allowed to take that child to China. Now how can you in your right mind take a child away from the father and send that child to another country. SHE WASN'T EVEN AN AMERICAN CITIZIN AND THE CHILD WAS. I don't even want to get into this anymore... just pisses me off. But these steps to get over someone don't really work when there are possessions or children involved. Best advice that I can give to a child in the middle is to protect and cherish that child to the fullest and not to let anything get between your relationship with your child.
To Rach, you need to get out more and find someone else to spend time with. A friend or possible a new friend can be the easy solution. Don't get involved sexually, it only will complicate things more for you and alter who you really are. Random sex is not the solution. You need to get out and do things such as go bowling or the ball game. Hell you can even go to one of those speed dating events. I know I have thought about it! You can also look for local groups online. New Jersey, for example, has the New Jersey Young Professionals. It's a group that gathers for happy hours and other events. Check your area and try something new! Lord knows that you have the time.
You should always live life to the fullest!
