Getting Rid of Cellulite - An Overview of Cellulite Riding Techniques

Laura Ballard
Many women overweight or not, suffer from the unsightly bumpy skin caused by cellulite. Each year people affected by cellulite spend time and money to rid their bodies of this unattractive appearing substance beneath the skin. What causes cellulite and is there any way to get rid of cellulite?

The truth about cellulite is not pretty. Cellulite is not caused by being overweight. Some people are genetically predisposed to having cellulite. Cellulite shows up when fat pushes against weakened connective tissue under the skin, thus making cellulite more of a problem due to skin rather than due to fat. Because of estrogen causing a difference in the connective tissue structure, more women than men are affected by cellulite. Cellulite is not something that can be completely done away with, unfortunately. With certain treatments, however, the appearance of cellulite can be diminished along with the embarrassment it causes to those concerned with their looks.

Many spas offer cellulite solutions that cannot be found in the local drugstore. These cellulite treatments include Endermologie, VelaSmooth, Ionithermie, TriActive LaserDermology and Mesotherapy.

With Endermologie, a technique using a machine with two motorized rollers and a vacuum fold and unfold the skin to move connective tissue and fat cells near the surface. Circulation is increased to the areas treated and cellulite can be greatly diminished.

VelaSmooth also uses lifting and rolling actions but combines them with infrared light and radio frequencies that warm the dermal layer and drain trapped fluids.

Ionithermie combines a handheld device with conductive clay and uses electrical stimulation to encourage circulation and reduce water weight.

TriActive LaserDermology uses a massage machine and cryogenic therapy to get rid of water retention and swelling that might be aiding in the appearance of cellulite.

The newest cellulite therapy is Mesotherapy. During Mesotherapy herbs, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes and other homeopathic medicines are actually injected into fat and connective tissue. Supposedly this breaks down the weak connective tissue and stimulates it to repair itself, this lessening the appearance of cellulite.

Most dermatologists would agree that taking care of the skin is the best defense against cellulite. When one is eating right, drinking enough water and staying away from foods and substances that cause the skin to weaken he or she is usually at the same time keeping extra fat from accumulating on his or her body. Keeping the skin stimulated and hydrated is very important in the prevention of cellulite. For those who have not kept their skin in tip-top condition the above methods are helpful in getting skin back to a state of health and preventing future cellulite.

  • Mesotherapy is the newest cellulite in America though it's been used in France since the 1950s.
  • Keeping the skin hydrated from the inside out is important.
  • Cellulite is genetic.
Cellulite can affect even thin people since it's more a condition of bad skin than too much fat.
