One recipe that your mother should have taught you is to eat chicken soup! Hot chicken soup when you're suffering from a cold is refreshing because it gives you the energy and calming feeling to continue on. Much like hot chicken soup, drinking hot teas can also help you. Chamomile Tea and Green Tea are two examples that are good to sip on when you're suffering from a cold. Green Tea has an ingredient that will boost your immune system, and Chamomile Tea will help you to relax when you drink it.
In addition to these home remedies for your cold, there are medicines on the market that will actually help you also. One example of such a medicine is called Cold-Eze and claims to shorten the length of your cold. Of course, it's best to start taking Cold-Eze at the first sign of a cold symptom. Cold-Eze actually comes in the form of small white tablets that you let dissolve in your mouth once per hour. They are filled with a Zinc ingredient; whoever thought that taking something as simple as a Zinc tablet would go a long way in shortening a cold? Cold-Eze will probably not work for everyone, but for those who it does work for experiences an awesome and relaxing relief from the annoyances of a stuffy nose, clogged chest, and even a sore throat.
Taking a stroll down the medicine and pharmacy aisle will give you an idea of how many cold remedies claim to work. Cold-Eze is only one of them and there are many more. Zicam Cold Remedy, Dayquil, Nyquil, Dimetapp, and Neo-Synephrine are only several of the many cold remedies that can be purchased over-the-counter.
Of course, nothing works best other than plain old rest and relaxation. Giving yourself a day or two to get over the terrible annoyances of the cold and giving your body to rejuvenate yourself will go a long way in relieving your cold symptoms. So stay in bed, drink orange juice and have plenty of chicken soup to help cure the terrible plague of the season: the Cold.
