Today's trends are seeing more and more homeowners wanting to go back to a feeling of roots and rural. The country feel of a home is reported to feel cleaner and some home simpler. You don't have to sell all of your household goods however, and move to the country for this feel. Some small changes can make a big difference such as your lighting.
The lighting in most rooms when decorating or creating a feel is over looked. There are homeowners who spend thousands of dollars on redecorating only to never touch the lighting in a room. They paint the walls, buy new curtains and replace the carpet but not the lamps or the lamp fixtures. A change in lighting however, can give any old room a new look.
Lighting sets the tone in your room. These days there are hundreds of types of lamps or light fixtures to choose from. If country lighting is what your aim is there are a number of directions you can go. A country style in general is all about a rustic, warm and natural feeling. Rooms that are geared towards a rustic or country look are usually decorated in browns and dark greens to give it that outdoor feel in living rooms and family rooms and light country blues for the kitchen. Your lighting should reflect this also. Finding lighting that has a look that you would find in a rural country kitchen is as close as the internet. Just type in country lighting and loads of sources come up. The key to making your search successful however, is finding the country lighting that speaks to your personality. Whether it is old hurricane lamps such as the kind used on cattle drives or a rustic chandelier made of elk horns, you can find it by searching the internet or your local lighting stores. The thing to remember is not to forget your lighting when trying to develop that rustic look for your room. Addressing your lighting issues may be the one thing that a person can't quite put their finger on but that makes a difference when they walk in to your newly decorated room.
