Drive north for an hour
Snowmobile across a lake
Park the sled, unload the gear
Walk the first portage
Cross the bay
Walk the next portage
Right into laker heaven
The lake stands rigid
Layers of slush and ice compressed
Walking with a pack for two miles is tough
But the twenty pound northern is all worth it
As well as always having the possibility of a gigantic lake trout or walleye
