Getting a Tongue Piercing: What to Consider

DiamondJewelSpiritHeaven
Tongue piercing is a popular piercing nowadays. Many people claim that tongue piercings increase their partner's sexual pleasure and their attractiveness to the opposite sex. For some they pierced to satisfy an oral fixation; and to deter themselves from smoking and other unhealthful activities. Some just people simply feel that a tongue piercing is attractive.

Though tongue piercings are popular nowadays with many more types of people then it was about a decade ago; there are some things that must be taken into consideration when you are planning to get a tongue piercing for yourself.

The placement of your tongue piercing is an important thing to consider. If your tongue ring is not placed in the middle of the tongue; you can have significant problems with your teeth. The metal can chip or corrode the tooth enamel. If it's placed in the back of the tongue or too far forward; it will change the way you speak.

This might not be a pleasant or attractive change; and you won't know until after the piercing.

You must also keep your tongue very clean and as sterile as possible for about 2 months after this piercing. This requires serious dedication. If you cannot do this; a tongue piercing will not work for you.

When you get oral piercing in the tongue and on the lip; you can suffer tooth damage from chipping and wear. You can experience gum and jaw damage from these same issues. A loose piece of metal can also find its way into your lungs from inhaling.

One of the most painful and irritating side effects of tongue piercing are infection and swelling. Eating and drinking can be a nightmare after eating.

Your piercer will inform you of the products you will need to care for your oral piercing. Eating will be different for about 2 months after your tongue piercing. You will have swelling for at least a week and it will be very hard to eat. In order to avoid this; you must be prepared to eat ice for a week or so. You might not be able to tolerate much else. Anything with salt or even sugar might burn. So be prepared.

If you don't like pain; piercing in certain parts of the body is just not for you. Tongue piercing is said by most to be especially painful, and even worst than the piercing of the private parts' soft tissue; and the nipple area.
