Gforce ImpOSCar Virtual Synth

Virtual synths (VST) have come along way in the last 10 years. Virtual synths started out with kinda odd interfaces , weak sounds and if you controlled them with a midi keyboard most of the time played nothing like a real keyboard you bought from your local music shop. Along with that most early virtual synths had lots of bugs, drop outs and errors you would never get with hardware, but times change.

Todays line of virtual synths are getting better sounding, more stable and feel much better when you play them live on a midi controller than most manufactured synths from the music shop, the ImpOSCar is a perfect example. This virtual synth is one of the best software virtual synths I have ever used and I use it on almost every track I cut out of my personal studio. Gforce has a line of top notch virtual synths that all sound amazing and play very well, but the ImpOSCar is the one I use the most from Gforce or any other virtual synth designer. The sounds in the ImpOSCar are top notch with an amazing feel of a hardware synth. ImpOSCars presets sound amazing but it only come with about 15 preset sounds created by Gforce but if you like creating your own sounds, this is the machine.

Waveforms on the ImpOSCar is the deepest I have ever seen in any other virtual synth or hardware on the market, if you know how to use it. Splitting the waves can create anomalies I have never heard before in any synth in my life, I will spend hours just listening to what the ImpOSCar can do without ever changing on key. Resonance on the Gforce is just plain mind boggling. At first I could not even find the resonance until I noticed that on this synth that the knob was labeled "Q". The "Q" knob is the best sounding software resonance I have ever heard , it reminds me of a old school Moog resonance, you can get the R2D2 bleeps with high "Q" settings.

Modulation is very effective on this virtual synth as well. All modulation is controlled by a wheel like on most other hardware and software synths. Gforce did not put a midi learn feature on the ImpOSCar but made it very easy to find out all the control channels of each knob so you can setup your midi controllers or change the actual control channel on the knob in the ImpOSCar to work with your midi controller.

Recording with the ImpOSCar is very fun and can add life to almost any track you have created without it. At my studio I use the ImpOSCar for spacey arpeggiator, piercing leads, warm complex pads or just plain weird noises. The bass in the ImpOSCar is warm and deep but I tend to use other virtual synths for bass over the ImpOSCar.

I would recommend the Gforce ImpOSCar to anyone with a studio, home or pro. Gforce really comes threw with this virtual synth and makes me keep an eye out on what they will release in the future. The price of the ImpOSCar is going down, I got mine for less than 100$ US. Getting a hardware synth that sounds this good would cost well over 1000$ US. Save money, great sounds and great live control are all the reasons you need to try out the Gforce ImpOSCar today.
