The old embrowned tractor plows in this garden,
While my sons world falls away... save this garden.
Something inviting comes from the turning earth.
The worms whisper, love - come home to this garden.
Soon the bee will oscillate about the corn,
A droned fertility god in this garden.
He digs in the dank soil like and atavist
Who seeks the clay of our bones in this garden.
I am a child in the brotherhood of blood;
J. C. - our lot still toils... East of This Garden.

Post a CommentThis is a wonderful composition. "While my sons world falls away...save this garden." Powerful, my favorite line in this piece.
Very good.
Beautiful and haunting.
Wow! I got chills...this poem is wonderful :)
Brilliant. This might just be your best poem, Jeff. Love the lines about the worm and bee. Without either, humanity would be screwed!
Very well done.
wonderful! love your use of words in this :))
Beautiful. Nothing is more therapeutic and lovely than gardening, in my opinion. Especially when it is shared with someone you love.
"embrowned tractor" -- and other phrases you use are mindstickers!
awesome......:)
