For Mary and Roger Bruce

You were there - watching when the stone moved,
In a dove's iris when the stone moved:

Were in the crumbling rust red blood
That fell from his palm when the stone moved:

Were in the rays of the rising sun
That warmed his cold flesh when the stone moved:

You were there - passing through the green grass
That cushioned his feet when the stone moved.

J. C. - every ion was there,
Was animated... when the stone moved.
