Ghazal for the Three Animals of My Heart

For Christine Bruness

J L Carey Jr
There's a dragonfly that flutters about my heart
Lulling the wolverine that lurks within my heart

They're there in the chambers with the woman I love
Pulling tempestuously, the strings of my heart

Paul Rance would divine a name for their ensemble,
Chimera, She-headed Wolverfly of my heart

They are the grace, strength and beauty that motivate,
That flood, pump and push the living blood of my heart

Three animals, an angel, demon and a muse
Rumi - They are the very fiber of... my heart

I'm going giddy with all the praise! Great poem, JL, and everything complements each other. I like the way you've thought of the competing emotions and personalities of this hybrid creature! Was another AC glitch as I received no notification that this had been published, but 'Noctambulist' news came through.
