GHD MK4 Flat Iron - a Product Review

With so many flat irons on the beauty market, how do you choose which one is right for you? I've been testing them out to see which one works best for me, and why. Today I'd like to share my review of the latest wonder from GHD, the new GHD MK4 Hair Straightening and Styling Iron. I thought it was great, maybe you will too.

Already getting a lot of media buzz, the much anticipated launch of the latest arrival of the GHD family does not disappoint! Being one of the lucky few to get a sneak peek, I love, love, love this iron. Incorporating state-of-the-art styling technology, this beautifully designed GHD MK4 Straightener and Styler has a rounded barrel for improved curling and styling, and let me tell you, it curls as easily as it straightens, giving you the ultimate in versatility. I hate those irons that say they curl, yet somehow you can never get it to happen.

The technology is great on the GHD MK4. It's got your usual run of the mill infrared heat to protect your hair with negative ions to seal the hair cuticle and lock in natural moisture. It also has Ceramic Technology for that smooth, static-free, frizz-free shine. Probably what you have come to expect from most flat irons on the market, but there's more with GHD. Unique digital technology for improved temperature control and better styling, a built-in microprocessor for faster heat conduction and a thermal fuse safety feature to prevent the iron from overheating. And that's not all. It also has a much needed fire-retardant outer casing to keep the body of the iron from getting too hot (no more burned fingertips) and a sleep mode that turns the styler off after 30 minutes if it's not being used. Talk about safe.

The GHD MK4 also has these advanced ceramic heaters that are supposed to sense the porosity of your hair type to apply and maintain the perfect amount of heat with every glide. That's cool. Really cool. The iron stayed hot the whole time. But honestly, it didn't need to stay hot so long because it straightened my hair super-fast! The 1" plates are Ceramic Aluminum for smooth, static free glides and they took out all my frizz in one pass! Plus it has this great auto adjust feature for international voltages so I can style my way around the world, if I ever get to do that!
