The ghost hunting team of Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson return to the Sci-Fi Channel to provide fans with another season of ghosts and ghoulies and things that go bump in the night. For those who have never seen the show before, Jason and Grant are plumbers for Roto-Rooter who started their own paranormal investigation group, The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), on the side. The show focuses on them and the other members of their group as they investigate supposedly haunted locations and try to capture compelling evidence.

Where this show differs from others of its type, "Most Haunted" being the one that immediately springs to mind, is that TAPS go into these locations with a very skeptical attitude and try everything to debunk, or re-create naturally, the phenomena that is reportedly taking place. Be warned, there will be entire episodes where they capture nothing and that is just fine by me as it makes those moments when they do get something all the more spooky.

The group is based out of Warwick, Rhode Island and in the first couple of seasons they stayed close to home but as the popularity of the show has grown, as well as the budget; they have started to visit some legendary haunted locations across the states as well as a very eventful trip to England and Ireland last season.

Something else to watch out for this season is the live ghost hunt which, this year, will be taking place at the ultra spooky Waverley Hill Sanitarium, a locations they have investigated before and one which turned up a great deal of evidence. Last year, the group went live to the Stanley Hotel, the inspiration behind Stephen Kings "The Shining" and it had some genuinely creepy moments. The best part of the whole live experience is that you can watch it on TV or tune into the internet simultaneously and keep an eye on all the rooms that they are recording in which really makes you feel like part of the team.

Ghost Hunters is one of the better reality shows out there and if you want to catch up on previous episodes, then the first couple of seasons are on DVD or you can tune in to the Sci-Fi Channel which shows regular re-runs of old episodes. Turn off all the lights and make sure that someone is with you if you decide to tune in; you just never know what you might see.

I get sucked into watching all these types of shows. There was one with Linda Blair as the host, that one had the most frightening but realistic stuff! Waverley Hill Sanitarium in Kentucky is one of the large sanitariums that the urbex crew is into ...
