Ghost Rider: An Action Movie that While Not Memorable Still Ultimately Satisfies

A NutZo with Fiery Skull and Bones

Ghost Rider can prove to be a pleasant experience, but only if you refrain from nit-picking. Also, it will be a requirement to be a big Nick Cage fan. The reason for this, is the fact that the movie is filled with many incompatible pieces. Many portions are lax and forgettable, so it only proves to be a momentary pleasant distraction.

This movie serves as an introduction to one of the stories in the comic book world of Ghost Rider.

Ghost Rider is:

Young stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze (played greatly, by Nic Cage) bargains his soul to Mephistopheles (One of the Villains) to have him cure his father from an illness.

Because of this, events occur were he must depart from his sweetheart Roxanne. Far into the future, Johnny in a stunt show, reunites with Roxanne, older and sexier. Yet, also he reunites with the underworld lord Mephistopheles, who offers to release Johnny's soul from his blood pact if Johnny becomes the fabled fiery Ghost Rider, an executor of vengeance and justice.

Johnny is then sent on a mission, that will include combating Blackheart, Mephistopheles's opposing rival and not to mention his son. A son who plans to eliminate his father and compose a brand spankin' new hell, that is even more atrocious than the current one.

"The Worthy"

The reason for viewing this movie, is Nic Cage. He is resplendent when playing NutZo. He encompasses the insanity of a normal man, turning into a crazed vigilante, that is made of bones that flame. There is a certain scene, the first occasion when he turns into the Ghost Rider, were Cage must show the pain of going thru the flesh to fire transformation. In that instant, he was able to successfully display a person who is literally losing his mind, and it serves as scrumptious delicious eye candy.
With portions like that one, his stellar acting and the visual effects that accompany him, make for a fun viewing time.

The visual effects is what makes viewing "Ghost Rider" an act that is not pointless. The images on screen are captivating and menacing, and prove to be very entertaining. The action portions are quite satisfying. So the important thing is not to have high expectations for the story and acting it holds.

"My Nit Picking"

There were things that bothered me about this movie. The story was unoriginal, it was weak in fluidity, filled with dragging portions and lacking all suspense.

The leading lady played by Eva Mendes, was wrongly chosen. She did a fair job, but nothing made her portion memorable.

Also, the delivery of the Villains was unsatisfactory. Wes Bentley and Peter Fonda, delivered their portions over the top. There was an abundance of exaggeration on their part, and failed to deliver, fear inducing performances.

The story was also lacking any surprises. The ending was unsurprising, and lacking any potent emphasis.

"So.."

In the end what you must expect is splendid action, impressive visual effects, and great lunacy from Nic Cage. If you are searching for a great overall movie... you will be left wanting. The story is wishy-washy and the acting is barely acceptable.

But at least, viewing Nic Cage transform into the fire fueled Rider IS a wickedly splendid experience.
