Ghosts Use Electronics

Sarah Toce
When I was a child growing up in Connecticut, it was not unheard of to have been visited by a ghost or someone from the "other side". After all, there were many Indian burial grounds in my town as well as a history that dated back to the Civil War. The thought of ghosts being around us was not only possible, it was practically accepted.

From a very early age, I started noticing interesting things happening with electronics I had left hanging out our living room. Even when not plugged in, they would sometimes make a noise or a light would flash. I thought it was just a trick of the eyes, but it didn't happen merely one time. It happened quite often.

One time in particular, I was doing my homework in the living room with the radio close to my left ear. No one in the family was home except for me. I had always felt energy fields around me, but it was a very normal, everyday feeling so this time was not unlike the many other times. The one thing that was different was that I was home alone and the alarm system was on. In the middle of doing my history assignment, the alarm started blaring for no apparent reason. This startled me because there were two doors in the house and one only beeped when opened while the other one would sound immediately when opened. I was on the floor with my homework directly in front of the door that was supposed to have been opened for the alarm system to sound automatically. Chills went through my body.

I jumped up, ran to the alarm to shut it off and then called my mom to hurry up and get home as fast as possible. I felt like I was being spiritually attacked by whatever unseen being was in the room with me. Things happened around the house periodically when people were home with me, but obvious, no-brainer activity like the alarm sounding for no apparent reason only happened when I was home alone. I am not ashamed to say it; I was very scared in that moment.

A week later, we had the alarm security team out to inspect the wiring in our house. They found absolutely nothing wrong with the wiring. They said it was most likely that someone had walked through the door. Well, considering that I was directly in front of the door, that excuse was obviously not the reason the alarm went off.

It happened every so often after this incident that the alarm would sound in the middle of the night regardless of whether or not I was alone. Footsteps could be heard and we actually ran downstairs together to defend ourselves one evening, but there was nothing and no one there.

We ended up moving out of the house a couple of years later. I sometimes wonder if anything has happened at that house to the new owners.

Interesting....my mother had a radio that would come on sometimes at will, with the volume all the way up and a very odd sound, not like usual static or noise...
