G.I. Joe : the Rise of Cobra Continues Trend of Reinvented Cartoons

Quick Description (From Yahoo! Movies): "From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos".

Let's face it. You're going to see G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra for Sienna Miller or should I say, "The Baroness".

You know it's true. It's ok. It's the reason I went to see it.

When it comes to revamped cartoons from the 80s and 90s, movies like G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra should be at the top of your list to see. The movie does a great job of mixing old information with new information, and it keeps both old fans and new fans in the loop on what's happening and why.

CASTING
You couldn't get a better bunch of people to be casted for this movie. They mostly fit the bill for each character. However, I did have my doubts on a few of them like Duke, Snake Eyes, and the Baroness. However, like any good cartoon freak does, I did my homework and was like, "Ok, that works."

However, the two best characters that really shined in the movie (An observation when I wasn't getting goose bumps from watching The Baroness) are Snake Eyes and Gen.Hawk. Those two will be the characters that get you truly into the G.I.Joe spirit.

And you know the best part about G.I.Joe? It's kinda like Spider-Man because there are so many characters to choose from when it comes to a sequel. Be sure to look out for:
Falcon, Lady J, and Flint. I think I saw one of those three in the movie, but I'll leave that Easter Egg to you.

DOWNFALLS
The only downfall I saw to the movie was the language. Even though it has to be updated with the world we live in now where most curse words have become part of everyday vocabulary, it's still a kid movie. But like I said, it blended the lines for both 30 somethings like myself, and my sons who are 7 and 5 who only know of G.I. Joe: Resolute, or the new-age toys that are out.

Now realize this: No one gave this movie a good review from what I've read. My response: You ain't a Joe...move on. They're looking at effects and CGI and all that stuff. These are probably the people who gave Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull bad reviews too. But hey, it's Indie..ya had to go! Overall I felt it wasn't that different from the comics or the cartoons that I've seen over the years.

FINAL THOUGHTS
In the end there is something for everyone in that movie if you're a true G.I.Joe fan. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra sets up for a better sequel and has followed in Hollywood's tradition now of bringing back 80s/90s cartoons and making them blockbuster hits all over again. I'm not a big fan in telling you all about the movie when I see it because it just takes away from my thoughts.
