Gia Mantegna is the daughter of Joe Mantegna of "Criminal Minds" fame (He's also starred in "House of Games", "The Godfather Part III, "Up Close & Personal", and voiced Fat Tony on "The Simpsons", among other things), and 20-year-old Gia Mantegna has already started quite the Hollywood career for herself. Gia Mantegna has been acting since age 13, appearing in movies like "13 Going on 30" and "Unaccompanied Minors". She's also guest-starred on father Joe Mantegna's show "Criminal Minds", and has a recurring role as Patty Mary on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager". Interestingly enough, Gia Mantegna has also starred alongside another celebrity child, Meryl Streep's daughter Grace Gummer, in the TeenNick series "Gigantic".
And, of couse, Gia Mantegna joins a long line of celebrity kids that have been Miss Golden Globe through the years. So whose success could the 2011 Miss Golden Globe honoree most hope to duplicate?
Well, 1975 Miss Golden Globe Melanie Griffith, the daughter of Tippi Hedren and Peter Griffith, became a very beloved actress thanks to her role in "Working Girl" (which she won a Golden Globe for). 1982 Miss Golden Globe, Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern) has also appeared in well-known movies like "Blue Velvet" and "Jurassic Park", winning a Golden Globe for her performance in 2008's "Recount".
1992 Miss Golden Globe Joely Fisher, daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens and half-sister of Carrie Fisher, has made a name for herself starring in TV series like "Ellen" and "'Til Death", while one of the few Mr. Golden Globe honorees throughout the years, Freddie Prinze, Jr., went on to become a popular star of teen movies like "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "She's All That".
Cybill Shepherd's daughter Clementine Ford was named 1998 Miss Golden Globe, going on to star alongside her mother on "The L Word", and Melanie Griffith's daughter with Don Johnson, Dakota Johnson, had the honor of becoming the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in 2005. She appeared briefly in a scene with Justin Timberlake in "The Social Network" and will appear in the 2011 movie "Beastly".
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter and 2009 Miss Golden Globe, Rumer Willis, has made quite a name for herself since starring in "Striptease" as a child. More recently she's starred in movies "The House Bunny" and "Sorority", also making guest appearances on the TV series "90210".
So will Gia Mantegna be just as successful as some of the other Miss Golden Globe honorees throughout the years? She seems to be well on her way to becoming a star in her own right, and perhaps she'll duplicate the success of some of the past Miss Golden Globe honorees by winning her own Golden Globe someday.
