Giddiness-Inducing Stocking Stuffers for Your Beloved Dog

Juliet Cook
The Christmas holiday season will be upon us before you can even quite believe it, so why not plan ahead to acquire some affordable but adorable stocking stuffers to delight your deserving pet dog? Surely, you weren't thinking of leaving your furry, four-legged child out of the festivities!

The fun and delightful pet Christmas gift notions presented here have all been gleaned from etsy.com, a great online "place to buy and sell all things handmade". Enjoy!

1. First up is the idea of acquiring your dear dog his or her very own Christmas stocking. Festive bone-shaped and bone-imprinted doggie stockings are being offered for only $5.00 each from the Mims Kids Plus etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=17908049). Available in either brown or black, this handy-dandy, pet-friendly accessory is machine washable and can be used during the Christmas season and beyond.

2. Now that you have a special stocking for your lucky dog, time to start filling it with special Christmas goodies-and what could be more special than homemade, gourmet dog treats? I've enjoyed some excellent experiences acquiring homemade, all-natural, and budget-friendly dog treats from etsy in the last few years. The selections are unique, the sellers are friendly, and my beloved Boston Terrier has certainly deemed the treats themselves to be delectably yummy! For bone-shaped vittles, these cute little Healthy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats look mighty tasty. The Mutt Mania etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31053232) offers up 30 of these 1 inch bone-shaped treats for $5.75. They're even finished off with an egg glaze for extra shine!

3. Maybe your pet dog would rather take a holiday break from the bone shapes and enjoy a different delicious formation this Christmas. How about a heart shape to show your dog how much you love him? Available amongst the wares of the Very Vintage etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25289136) these Healthy Hearts biscuits are All Natural Organic Vegetarian Dog Treats. 25 made to order heart-shaped delights for $5.00 are concocted from local organic apples. Yum!

4. For an even more decadent doggie delight, truly worthy of a holiday dessert, how about some treats crafted with chocolate for dogs aka carob? Perhaps the new Carob Doggy Donuts from the Divine Canine etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=32060512) will hit this holiday spot. $5.00 will score your spoiled sweetie-dog twelve medium sized donuts-and you can even request that these donuts be dipped in more carob, white chocolate, or peanut butter!

5. When it comes to dog treats, you can't get much more delightfully unique than Cupcake Mix for Dogs, up for sale in the Petir Four Legs etsy shop

(http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=32081575). Run by a "professional pastry chef who has literally gone to the dogs", this wonderful shop offers scrumptious bakery-style petit fours just for pampered canines, as well as this cupcake mix, which is corn, soy, and wheat free and features a peanut butter flavor, a yogurt frosting, and miniature handmade bone decorations. According to the item description, "The directions are so easy that this also makes a great children's activity if your family is celebrating a dog's birthday, 'adoption' day, or other special occasion. The mix makes 18 miniature cupcake, 6 regular-sized cupcakes, or an 8-inch cake." This would also be oh so festive for Xmas, so whip up a batch for your favorite pooch this Yuletide for only $11.00.

6. Of course, even holiday doggies need to do more than eat treats. They also might want to get prettily gussied up for the holiday season. Give your pet the gift of clean skin and a shiny coat with an Oatmeal Dog Shampoo Soap from My Pooper Scooper's etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20170867). A mere 4 buckaroos will score you and your soon to be squeaky clean pooch-o-rama a delicious six ounce soap bar composed of wheat protein and essential oils.

7. For a different flavor of dog soap, the Homebrew Soaps cold process doggie shampoo bar also sounds like a great Christmas stocking stuffer for a pampered pet. According to this item description, "These bars are scented with citronella, spearmint, and a little patchouli to help repel ticks and fleas and keep your dog smelling fresh and clean longer." Only $3.50 a bar from the Homebrew Soaps etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19023747).

8. Now that your favorite holiday dog is all clean and fragrant, maybe he deserves to be festively decked out in some adorable handcrafted attire from Beantown Handmade (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6458655). From stylish dog sweaters and coats to adorable scarves and hats, protect your pet from the elements and keep him looking runway-ready with some of this fabulous pet haute couture!

Happy Holidays! Woof woof!
