Gift Ideas for a 6-Year-Old Boy

It may seem like an easy task choosing the right gifts for a 6-year-old boy, but now a days they are as fussy as their teenager counter parts. I surfed the internet and caroused through the stores looking for those perfect gifts for my son. He is an active; his feet and mouth never stop from the time he wakes up until he goes to sleep at night. These are the gifts that I found that were the biggest hits with him.

1. An MP3 Player. He loves music. The music from his favorite movies, from his favorite video games, it does not matter he loves to dance and sing. He absolutely loved this gift. Before I wrapped it, I had it loaded and ready with his favorite song so he could just press play and go when he opened it.

2. Hot Wheels Cars. Now this can be where it gets tricky. If the boy you are buying for is like mine, he knows exactly which cars he already has and where they are. A duplicate usually is not a big deal but I always try to find the ones that say new, just released, or something of that sort. But either way they typical boy is a happy camper with new cars regardless of whether they have them or not.

3. Leapfrog Twist and Shout Math. They have both the addition and subtraction. My son loves to show off and show me all the new things he has learned. These were great because they are interactive, he is learning, and he does not have to sit still to use them.

4. The Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board. If they love to draw this is a hit. They can be used over and over again simply by wiping the board clean. They markers are much easier for them to control than a magna doodle and the board wipes clean with just a damp cloth.

5. Matchbox or Hot Wheels play sets. Now generally I would think the ones with the loops and hills that launched the cars would be the ones, but the play sets where they have to push the cars though were the biggest hit. It seems most kids prefer to have the control over the cars on the track rather than just push a button and let it go.

6. Anything they can build. I found wooden crafts from Crayola called the Big Yellow Box. They have gum ball dispensers, cars, bookends, and a couple others. They are simple construction and have all the necessary things included. The paints, glue, parts, and instructions are all included.

These are just a few of the toys that will make a 6year old very happy whether it is for Christmas, a birthday, or just because. They can keep them busy for hours with learning and fun.
