Gift Ideas for the New Father: Personalized Gifts Will Win Him Over

When a couple is about to have a baby, most of the gift giving tends to be for the new mom or for baby. But what about the dad? New Dads play an important role in the family as well. Oftentimes, new dads are neglected when it comes to gift giving, but it doesn't have to be this way. Here are a few ideas for gifts new dads can appreciate.

A book written especially for new dads can prove to be helpful when it comes to understanding how babies work. You don't have to purchase a book however, you can make one up on your own. New dads may appreciate a book that describes the different aspects of newborn care. New dads will appreciate being informed so that they can take a more active role in parenting for their newborn baby.

New dads like new moms can use a break as well. If the new dad is an avid golfer you can purchase tee time for him to enjoy a game. If he loves the movies then buy him tickets to a new movie he's interested in. New dad's will certainly appreciate the thought that goes into this personalized gift. With many new dads taking a more active role in childcare, this type of gift will allow him to spend some time enjoying the things he participated in before the arrival of the new baby.

A brag book or small photo album that will fit in his pocket. New dads are just as proud of their new baby as new moms are. By giving the new dad a brag book he will be able to show off his new bundle of joy with his coworkers and friends.

You can make personalized gifts for the new dad as well. After the baby is born, make a photo mug with baby's picture on it with the words "Congratulations to the New dad" printed on it. A diaper bag for him. If the new mom has picked a diaper bag that may not be very manly for the new dad to carry around, then you can give the new dad a more macho bag. Something as simple as a black tote bag would work, filled with all of the necessary supplies. If dad is stuck in an office all day, you can make a personalized mousepad with baby's picture or select a picture of the new Dad holding baby and place into a frame that he can display proudly on his desk.

New dads will appreciate the thought and effort you put into these gifts. So the next time you are buying/making gifts for a new mom don't forget to include a gift for the new dad as well.
