Some of these tips you may have seen in a couple of my other articles. However in this article we are going to put a twist to some of those fun ideas for kids. We will discover fun things our kids can do to show appreciation to their Grandmothers on Mothers Day.
As I've mentioned before most kids love to draw and show some creativity. Mothers Day is a wonderful opportunity to let them do both.
First of course is the old stand by of a card with a thoughtful message for Grandmothers. We can jazz this idea up a bit by letting our kids design their own card to give to their Grandmothers on Sunday May 13th. If they have more then 1 living Grandmother then have them make a unique card for each. Help them with a good phrase for the inside of their card that represents how they feel for that particular Grandmother. They could write something about their favorite memory with her, or they could put something's that they want to do with her that are special just for the two of them.
Another idea I have mentioned before is rock painting. This is loads of fun for kids and parents can get involved as well. It is not that expensive to go by a few tubes of acrylic paints, and we all can most likely find some larger rocks somewhere around us for the kids to paint. Have your kids get inventive and paint something interesting. You can also ask them to paint a happy summer design for their Grandmother or Grandmothers. Let them play with a few till they get comfortable with painting the rocks, they are a little different then just painting on paper but I promise your kids will have a blast doing this artistic idea.
You can also give your child or children a few sheets of colorful construction paper and help them cut out strips to decorate a small box. They can get inventive with this as well. They could turn their little boxes into jewelry boxes for their Grandmother. They could make it into a recipe box. Let them decorate it anyway they want to make it unique to them and to the Grandmother they are making it for.
Most of us have sheets of thin colorful tissue paper from all kinds of holidays. We also can find paper towel tubes and toilet paper rolls fairly easily. Let your child take some construction paper and glue to wrap the tubes. Then use some of the thin pieces of tissue paper or construction paper and make flowers, bushes, or trees with the tubes that they covered with construction paper. They can make a whole bouquet this way.
Expand on the idea above and use pipe cleaners to let your child make flowers for their Grandmother. You can get a small vase and let your child decorate the vase with their paints and their flowers can be placed into the vase for their Grandmothers.
Another plant idea for your child could be to go and buy a small planter box or a round planter and let your child paint a festive bright summer theme onto the planter boxes. Purchase a small bag of potting soil to put in the planters and a few colorful flowers or a plant for your child to put inside of the planters when they have finished giving it their personal touch.
There are numerous ideas for your child to show thanks and appreciation to their Grandmothers on Mothers Day, that will be something that they can be proud of, and the fact that they made it all their own is even better. They can get very inventive and creative with their ideas. The above are all things that Grandmothers can enjoy for a long time to come, and your child will always remember the way they showed thanks and love to their Grandmothers on Mothers Day.
