Gift Ideas for People Who Love to Take Pictures

Photography is quickly becoming an extremely popular hobby for hundreds of thousands of people in all areas of the world. Mothers who have small children tend to be some of the biggest photography enthusiasts, because they have a strong desire to capture their kids in pictures as much as possible while they're growing. Women who have new babies are particularly enjoying digital photography, because they're trying to capture every minute of their new baby's growth. This level of photography does not usually change as the kids grow older either, because there are always more events and important milestones moms want to take pictures of. If you have a special someone on your holiday gift giving list this year loves photography, here are some fantastic gift ideas you might want to consider buying for them.

1. Digital picture frames. There are many different types of digital picture frames available at almost any store these days. You can buy them at your local Wal-Mart, or online at Amazon. Digital picture frames make fantastic gifts for photographers and digital photography enthusiasts because they allow you to display hundreds, and sometimes even thousands of digital photos in one frame. Many of these frames are even designed to look like regular picture frames that you might sit on the table or hang on the wall. These decorative digital frames make it very easy to buy one as a gift that would fit right into the home design theme your gift recipient has.

2. External camera flash. Anyone who has been taking digital photos for any length of time quickly realizes that the built-in camera flash isn't usually the best one to use when you're taking pictures. The built-in flash on standard cameras create harsh shadows and flat lighting which is not very appealing. Most people who love photography would rather have an external flash, especially one which can tilt and swivel to point in different directions.

3. An extra camera battery. Extra camera batteries are wonderful accessories to give as a gift for anyone who loves photography. This is particularly true for anyone who has a semi professional DSLR camera with a rechargeable battery. By having an extra battery, the photographer can simply put a replacement in when the first one runs out, and continue snapping pictures of their kids or whatever their heart desires.

4. Extra memory cards. Photography lovers who use digital cameras tend to take hundreds of pictures at a time. And this can fill up memory cards quickly. Memory cards come in a variety of sizes, so you'll need to know which one fits into the camera of the person you're buying it for. Once you know the type of memory card to buy, then you simply choose one based on how many pictures it can hold. Some photographers might want memory cards which will hold 100 pictures, while others would prefer in memory card which can hold at least 1000 pictures. Most photographers agree though: you can never have enough memory.

5. A portable hard drive. Memory cards allow the photographer to continue taking hundreds of pictures anytime before they have to be loaded onto their computer. Eventually though, those pictures do get loaded onto the computer, and they can take up quite a bit of space. A portable hard drive is a wonderful gift idea for anyone who loves photography though, because this gives them much more storage space for all of the pictures they want to keep.
