Gift Ideas for Pet Fish Owners

Holiday Gift Guide

If the one you're planning to give a gift to someone who owns a fish, then maybe it is best to give something that can help take care of his or her pet. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what to give pet fish owners. Here are some ideas that can help you decide on the perfect gift.

Tools for the Aquarium

The fish's health depends on its environment; needless to say, the aquarium should be cared for and kept clean at all times. It is also good if it can be decorated to imitate the fish's natural habitat. These days, there are dozens of aquarium accessories to choose from like breeding kits, breeding grass, and other accessories. Canopies like the glass kind are also useful. Plants also make an aquarium look lively. You can opt for the live plants or the artificial ones which come in plastic or silk.

Unique and colorful backgrounds are also great gifts as aquarium decor. You can choose from double-sided, adhesive, or foil type backgrounds. The gravel on the aquarium floor also comes in a variety of textures like freshwater gravel, decorative, and colored. Ornaments like corals, buildings, arches, natural, and artificial driftwood, rocks, caves, ships, and even laser lights add to the beauty of an aquarium and make it a replica of the fish's natural home. You can find all these by visiting www.thatpetplace.com.

But if you're not satisfied with just aquarium decor, then a new aquarium may be best. Reef-one.com's latest offering is the BiOrb Smart Aquarium, a one-of-a-kind spherical aquarium that only requires you to add water and the fish. Besides its nice shape and decorative background, it also has LED lights with sunrise, sunset, and moonlight modes. Equipped with a five-stage filtration system, water clean-up is a breeze. This high-tech aquarium is every fish owner's dream. Visit Reef-one.com to view more details of this unique product.

Manuals for Everything Fish

It is also a good idea if you give a pet fish owner some books to guide him in taking care of his pet. One helpful book is "Manual of Fish Health : Everything You Need to Know About Aquarium Fish, Their Environment and Disease Prevention" written by Chris Andrews, Adrian Exell and Neville Carrington. These fish experts give useful information on giving pet fishes a healthy environment, fighting pests and bacteria, and recognizing common diseases that the fish may encounter and how to deal with them. This comprehensive guide is easy to read and features underwater photos, diagrams, and charts.

Fish Training

A unique gift will be a fish-training manual and kits from Fish School. Nine-year-old Kyle Pomerleau and his father Dean Pomerleau gained popularity when their fish, Albert Einstein, showcased its talent on eating from the hand of the owner, going through loops and hoops and even playing with a miniature soccer ball. The Pomerleaus wanted to show people that fish can also be trained and that they are not just for decorations. Fish School sells fish-training manuals that can help other fish owners to discover their hidden talents. This unique and interesting gift can help your fish owner do more with his fish than just feeding it.

Hopefully this solves your gift-giving problems for pet fish owners. It is easy to know what gift to give as long as you would base it on one's hobby and know what they need. This way, your money would not be wasted and your friend will appreciate your effort in giving the perfect gift.

Something important that should be added here is that the BiOrb aquariums, because of their size and design, can hold a very limited number of species of fish, all of which stay very small.
Round or orb shaped aquariums also pose the problem of heat for tropical animals. Because of the shape and size of these tanks, the standard aquarium heater will not fit, which means when working with these tanks, the heater designed for them is the only one suitable.
The largest BiOrb listed at reef-one.com is 60 liters, or 15 US gallons.
For someone who wishes to keep a small tank with only a few small peaceful fish that stay small (under 2 inches), the BiOrb is worth checking out.
