Gift Ideas for Your Teenaged Boy

Cee Belair
While teenaged boys are arguably easier to buy for than a teenaged girl, it can still be somewhat difficult to come up with gift ideas for that tough age.

Having a couple teenagers myself, I've narrowed down the list to what's popular, and what's not. Here are some gift tips for your teenaged boy!

Sports

It's common that most boys love sports. Anywhere from basketball and football to hockey or golf. Chances are if they're playing a particular sport, they already have the needed equipment. That doesn't mean there aren't things left to buy! Consider trading cards, posters, hats or tee shirts. Anything that has your teenager's favorite team logo on it.

Outdoor activities

Fishing is a popular thing to do amongst teenaged boys. Hunting is also pretty popular in some areas. New tackle, a tackle box or any other outdoor equipment they can bring along is sure to go over well. You could consider filling a tackle box with bug spray, a hat and some other fishing odds and ends. For hunting, a lot depends on what they like to hunt. You can pull some ideas from that, and if you're unsure, head to the nearest outdoor store.

Toys

Yes, toys. Teenage boys still love their toys. What teenaged boy doesn't love his Playstation, Xbox or Gamecube? If you're not up to date with their inventory of games, consider a gift certificate to their favorite store so they can pick up the newest titles.

Music and movies

Ipods, MP3 players, CD player.... It's hard to find a teenaged boy that doesn't have one of these attached to his hip. Movies and DVD's are also very popular. These can get pricey, and can be hard to buy if you don't already know what he has on hand. A gift certificate would be the way to go if you're considering these gifts. A gift certificate to the local theatre is a great gift!

Bath and Body

It's hard to imagine a boy wanting personal items for a gift, but it's true that they like to smell good for the ladies. Toiletries such as cologne and aftershave are much appreciated. They also sell great smelling bath and body wash with masculine scents.

Odds and Ends

Depending on your budget, consider picking up a nice pocket watch or wristwatch, maybe even an alarm clock they'll actually wake up to. Wallets are good gifts, to keep their various gift cards in, and money if they ever have it. A gift certificate to their favorite store to pick up clothes is also appreciated, both by the teenaged boy and his mom and dad. Teen boys have a style all of their own, so chances are whatever you buy for clothes, won't go over well. Go with a gift certificate instead! Most boys like to talk, think about a phone card, or cell phone card to help them save their phone bill.

Buying for a teenaged boy doesn't have to be difficult. They are pretty easy to read, and you can usually tell what they like by watching their habits. If all else fails, buy a gift certificate to a local restaurant or fast food place. You can never go wrong with food!
