Gift Ideas for Those Who Are Hard to Buy For

Alyssa Russo
When you a buy a gift for someone, you want them to be able to use it and hopefully appreciate it. Sometimes people are just hard to get gifts for because they are either picky or maybe they just have everything and you can't figure out what to get them. Here are some ideas of gifts that you can give that person.

Gift Cards/Certificates. Some people don't like giving gift cards because they feel it is too impersonal or doesn't require much thought. I think gift cards a great idea. I personally like to receive them because it allows me to buy what I want at a specific store that I like shopping at. If I don't like the place that the gift card is issued for, I can always sell it online. Using a gift card to a store helps me to save money because I usually do not like going over the price of the gift card, so it seems like I got the item for free. When I use cash that someone gave me, I always second guess, saying that maybe I should have used the cash somewhere else. Gift cards make it easier for me to shop. You could buy that 'hard to buy for' person a gift card to a clothing store they shop at, restaurant, movie theatre, supermarket, etc. There are so many gift card ideas out there.

Buy a blank journal or nice book with blank pages inside. If you are creative and this person means something to you, you can write nice things about them on each page of the book. I did this for a relative one time and they loved it! She has it on display in her living room. People like hearing about themselves and how much people like them or appreciate them. Show them how much you do by writing a sentence or two on each page about what you like about them, how thankful you are for them, what memories you have of them and why they are special to you.

Make a cd of their favorite songs. You can buy and download songs from the internet and burn them onto a blank cd to make special cds for someone with a bunch of songs that they like.

Does this person lose their keys a lot? Are they always looking around the house for things that they lost? You could buy them a remote key finder. A remote key finder has a piece that attaches to a keyring, remote, cell phone or other object that they seem to misplace often. When a button is pushed on the remote part, it sends a signal and usually flashes so that you can tell where the item is. This might help them alleviate some stress and save time looking for objects around the house.

Make a scrapbook. If you are close with this person and have a lot of photographs of the two of you together, you could make them a scrapbook of all the memories you have shared with them. Put funny or loving sayings in the scrapbook so you can both share quality time and laughs while looking through it.

Buy a board game. If the person you are buying for likes games, then maybe a board game would be a good idea. Board games provide good entertainment and maybe they'll invite you over to play sometime. There are some pretty neat board games you could buy in stores and online.

Buy them a joke book. Do they tell jokes often? Buy them a book filled with funny jokes and sayings to keep their jokes fresh and make them laugh.

A dvd is a good gift to get a movie buff. Find out the person's favorite movie and see if they have it on dvd. If not, you have a nice gift to give them.

Cozy things like slippers, gloves, robes, blankets, etc. These are good for giving out in the winter months.

Finally, cash. If you really, really can't think of anything else, cash is certainly something that can be used and not go to waste. Who doesn't like money?
