Gift Ideas for Tween and Teens Who Love Animals

Sally Albright
It can be hard to find the perfect gift for a tween or a teen. But if they are into animals finding the perfect gift isn't as hard as you think. There are many different gift ideas that would be perfect for the tween or teen who is into animals.

ADOPT AN ANIMAL

I do not mean that you have to adopt a new animal into your home. The World Wildlife Fund, or WWF, has a program that allows you to "adopt" an animal. There are many different animals to choose from such as the tiger, snow leopard, giraffe, elephant, and more. If your tween or teen is into one of these types of animals you can "adopt" one for them and they will receive gifts in return depending upon the amount of the donation. The $50 adoption for example gives your tween or teen a plush animal, an adoption certificate, a picture of the animal, and two gift bags. You can find the WWF online by typing their name into the search engine.

ANIMAL CALENDAR

Tweens and teens love to have their own calendar in their room, especially one that fits their personality. They can use the calendar to keep track of days passed, activity schedules, homework deadlines, or dates with friends. There are many different calendars that have just about every breed of dog or cat, wild animals, and even aquatic animal calendars to choose from. My own tween daughter loves cats and it is easy to find calendars with pictures of cute cats and kittens in them. The bonus is that after the year is over your tween or teen can take pictures of the calendar and frame them as decor in their room.

ANIMAL COMPUTER OR VIDEO GAMES

There are many computer and video games on the market which are perfect for tweens and teens alike which they are sure to enjoy playing. Some older games can be purchased inexpensively such as Zoo Tycoon for the PC. Nintendogs is a good choice for those who cannot have their own pet dog at home due to allergy reasons or because mom and dad don't want them in the house. The popular Sims series of games even has a Sims Pets game for various game consoles and the PC.

ANIMAL PRINT BEDDING OR FURNISHING

You can find just about anything in animal prints nowadays. Many of these items would be perfect for a tween or teen bedroom. Just be sure to keep the animal print as an accent so that it won't be too overwhelming in your tween or teen's room. You can find ottomans with storage that would make great seating in a tween or teen bedroom. Sheets in an animal print with a solid color comforter is also a great way to decorate with animal print in your child's bedroom. You can often have an easier time finding these types of gift and decor items on places such as eBay or Amazon. Even inexpensive throw pillows can be a fun accent for your tween or teen's bedroom in a playful animal print. Animal prints are perfect because they are youthful and yet grown up.

ANIMAL LOVERS POSTERS

Animal posters are a great way to accent your tween or teen's bedroom. All kids, big and small, love to have posters hanging on their bedroom walls. You can find animals posters in many different places on the internet or in retail stores. Find an animal poster that appeals to your tween or teen animal lover such as a poster that depicts their favorite animal or animals.

ASPCA DONATION

Animal lovers would be thrilled to have a gift donation given in their name to the ASPCA. You can make a donation in honor or your tween or teen and they will receive a calendar, membership card, magazine subscription, and a bracelet if your gift donation is at least $25 or more. The ASPCA helps fight animal abuse and this gift would be perfect for the tween or teen animal lover in your life.

These gifts are just a few ideas to get you started. Tweens and teens are sure to love any of these gift suggestions above.

These are great suggestions. I've been a cat lover since early childhood. I was always adopting strays and taking them in. My mum wasn't so keen on them and would try to keep me away from stray cats!
